Sunshine Blogger Award

I was both extremely pleased and surprised to discover I had been nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award. The award is from one of my peers to recognise that my blog has inspired positivity and joy! Yes, me – positive and joyful …

Thank you so much then to An Anxious Gal for my nomination – please go and take a look at her blog, and have a look at the full list of nominees while you are there.

The Rules

  1. Thank the blogger and link their blog in your post
  2. Answer the 11 questions they asked
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions
  4. List the rules and display the logo on the post

The Questions to Me, and My Answers

1> What was the last song you listened to?

I find it difficult to listen to a lot of songs because they are so emotive, so I will actively listen to just ambient music. The music I have listened to recently the most was the soundtrack to my latest YouTube video. While I was editing I had to hear it over and over again.

2> You’re stranded on a desert island and you can only take 1 book with you – what book have you chosen and why?

I am not reading very much at the moment.

The last book I read was “The Queen and I” by Sue Townsend, so I would probably want to read that again.

3> Are there any blog posts that you’ve ever written but never published?

Yes. I have lots of draft posts ready to go! I have one private post on my blog because I needed to save a link to something, but it doesn’t need to be private, so I will probably publish it soon.

4> What is your favourite movie at the moment?

I only watch YouTube and I can’t concentrate on long films.

5> How long have you been blogging for?

This blog is just a few months old, but I’ve been blogging for about ten years. I started off with a craft blog and then I started writing about different topics and had separate blogs. That didn’t work very well for me, so I combined everything into this blog, and I publish every day.

6> What has been your favourite part of 2018 so far?

I think having the opportunity to start my YouTube channel was a big positive. However, I think the best of 2018 is yet to come … watch this space!

7> How do you overcome a blogging/writing block?

I have written several posts about this, but basically I have lots of draft posts and scheduled posts on the go. If I ever had a bad writing block and nothing to fall back on, then I would have a break because I know that just sitting looking at a blank screen isn’t inspiring … reading other articles, looking out of the window/meditating, going through old photos, and looking for word prompts are also helpful things to do.

8> What TV shows would you recommend?

None at all – I don’t watch television.

9> Do you believe in fate and that everything happens for a reason?

I hate that phrase – I cannot explain my son’s cancer by saying it happened for a reason.

10> Where is one place that you have always wanted to visit but never got around to doing it?

Venice maybe?

11> Would you prefer to holiday in a hotel in a city or a cottage in the countryside?

When I lived in a city I wanted to visit the countryside, now I live near countryside I would like a city break – but my favourite type of holiday would be on a narrowboat.

Here are the eleven things I would like to ask

  1. What is your top tip for writing a blog post?
  2. Which Country do you live in?
  3. Do you like to travel?
  4. What is your favourite music?
  5. What is your favourite food?
  6. If you could collaborate with another blogger, who would you choose?
  7. Do any of your friends or family have a blog?
  8. Do you prefer handmade or shop-bought presents?
  9. Besides blogging, do you have any other creative skills?
  10. Would you rather text or talk?
  11. If you were asking the questions, what would you like the final question to be?

The bloggers I nominate are

These blogs are in no particular order, and chosen because they are blogs I like to read and interact with and have been supportive to me in some way (even if they don’t know it), so please do go and have a read.

If you do not wish to accept the award then I apologise! Not every blogger likes awards 😉

This has been possibly the longest blog post I have written in quite a while, so thanks again to An Anxious Gal for giving me something to ponder. I have enjoyed thinking about the answers to the questions you gave me, thinking of new questions to ask, and considering which blogs I would like to pass the award on to.

All that remains for me to do now is to visit the other nominees and find out how they have answered their questions.

If you have read all of this post, many thanks for sticking with it – I hope you enjoyed it!
