This is just a quick round up of the crafts I’ve been doing this week.
Firstly, I’m getting through the yarn I ordered from Love Knitting, but I’ve taken a break to rest my hands. This blanket is starting to wrinkle, so I’m going to wash it and see if it gets flat when it dries.
Today I had planned to do some more prints with my Gel Press, but the morning didn’t quite go to plan (for reasons I don’t need to go into). I didn’t get started until the afternoon and the first few prints weren’t a great success, probably due to my frame of mind going in to the task.
I began with a stencil and it wasn’t giving the results I wanted. I really didn’t want to give up though.
I stopped using the stencil and tried to get some ombré backgrounds, but they weren’t brilliant either.
Next I thought I would try printing using different household items and got some interesting results with an old coffee jar. I think it was Kenco. I don’t have photos of that at the moment though.
Finally I was very pleased with how my crochet dishcloth print came out. You can see the stitches clearly, and also the texture of the yarn.
I will write a new post about how I use these backgrounds in due course … But here’s one I made earlier 😆
The card above used strips of different prints to give the idea of land and sky. The lollipop tree was die cut from an upcycled brown envelope.
