How many times a day do you update your blog?
There are some people who document everything they do via their Facebook or whatever, and that seems to be generally accepted.
Is it the same with blogging? I think not! *correct me if I’m wrong …
How do we manage when there seems to be too much to say?
Writing is good therapy. If the need to write is there, then go with it!
My recommendation would be to write the post anyway, or make a note in a journal. Let the words flow and save them for a day when you can’t think of anything to say.
- If you save your post in draft, it is easy to publish it quickly (especially if you have the mobile app) when you need to fill a gap. I like to have at least a ‘week’ of draft posts ready, as I never know when I might need to dip into my reserves.
- Alternatively, schedule the post for a later date. I have a regular posting schedule and then I use my “free” days for random posts. Sometimes I post twice a day, but I feel that is enough.
When your blog is new and fresh, it seems like you will always have something to say. At some point, the words will dry up or you may just be too busy.
Just because you have written something down doesn’t mean you have to share it either.
I have a journal on my phone which is ideal for things I don’t want or need to share.
Sometimes I can look back over my journal and it may prompt a blog idea. Writing in any form is a good way of remembering, and your public blog is your legacy. We should make the most of this!
My final thoughts are, that your blog is your space, and, that it all should come down to personal preference.
Thank you for reading this. Please let me know what you think, not just about blogging, but multiple status updates, journals and other forms of writing, etc.
